Abilene Baptist Church began as a small group of people in the home of Mr. Sef Muse on May 8, 1875. The church later met under a bush arbor and even later under a covered area where the the church currently stands. In the summer of 1892, a church building was built by members giving trees sawed into lumber.

Throughout the twentieth century, God has continued to bless Abilene. The church has been remodeled, bricked, restrooms were added, and classrooms were built. A parsonage, fellowship hall, bus shed, playground, ball field, BBQ pit, picnic area, and a family life center have also been added.

Abilene has gone through many phases since its beginning almost 135 years ago. Join us as we continue to watch God work here at Abilene.
